Recommendations
Rachelle is a great leader and incredible person that I would recommend anyone to work with. She was my engineering manager and helped foster a culture of trust, innovation, and empathy. She is the type of leader that you know you can always trust to support you, while going out of her way to help you be successful. Rachelle has a strong sense of technical excellence and transparency. Our team built great and innovative software under her leadership and I know she will continue to be highly successful in the future.

Rachelle was previously my engineering manager and was an absolute champion and fierce advocate for each member of her team (and beyond). She advocates for her team's professional development just as fiercely as she advocates for their personal well being. Her leadership approach empowers her engineering teams with a strong sense of trust, collaboration, and openness, and she is always thoughtful and cares deeply to make sure that team members truly feel valued, acknowledged, and engaged. No exaggeration when I say that my decision to join her team was due in large part to the overwhelming sense that Rachelle would adamantly have my back, particularly as a non-binary engineer in oftentimes male-dominated spaces.
For any laments that engineers might have about culture in tech, Rachelle works passionately to create and sustain a culture that is the best of all worlds – interesting problem-solving and innovation with real human-centered values of genuine care, respect, listening, and vulnerability. It is because of the exceptional leaders like Rachelle that we can hope for the brightest future of this industry!

I worked in parallel with Rachelle for several years as cloud support while she was an SRE and then again as a direct report to her when I transitioned to SRE and she was the SRE manager.
As her direct report she had all the same qualities from us working in parallel but I also got to see her drive and ability to lead a team, while navigating the political challenges of a leadership position with grace and composure. During the one on ones she would always take notes and have my concerns addressed by the next meeting. She truly cares about her team and their well being and proves this throughout our interactions and challenge resolution. Rachelle is the unique blend of a caring people manager that has also rolled up their sleeves in the trenches and been in your shoes. She is able to deftly navigate the political portion of leadership while making sure that her teams’ voices are heard and respected, while also constantly checking in with her team to make sure everyone is taken care of and there are clear goals towards their aspirations. I miss working with Rachelle and I know she will be a tremendous force and asset to whichever company she is at.

Beyond the Binary Podcast
I had the absolute pleasure of being a guest on a new podcast to promote Women’s voices in tech, Beyond the Binary. 💫 It was a good reminder of why I support diversity, equity, inclusion, and non-traditional backgrounds in tech (and a fun walk down memory lane)! 🎨
